Compressor Upgrade

So I contacted Bullseye Power and they said they would build a custom compressor wheel for the stock turbo (or next size up). They claim a 10% increase in flow over stock with no other mods (of course a tune would be needed to use the increase and not set the service engine light off).

Is anyone interested? I'm thinking a group buy. This would be for the T3 and later with the GTB2260 turbo.

Semi-snake oil, and our factory turbo is not the GTB2260, its the GTB2056.

So an upgrade would be the GTB2260 with an upgraded wheel from bullseye or somewhere else.

Bullseye made big power claims for the duramax trucks and a lot of people jumped on board only to discover minimal is any gains.

Define big power gains?

I was told 10% increase in air flow.... which to me isn't a huge gain but a medium gain. But a 10% increase in airflow is still an increase. So if the upper limit of a stock tune is 280-290 HP then that is a 28 to 29 HP gain. which puts me very close to my 30 HP goal.

If their upgrade is $400 that isn't bad for 30 HP of capacity. The tune would be the more expensive part.

Of course the question I have is what their compressor map looks like.

As to the turbo upgrade above. Sure why not. If the GTB2260 is the next size up then 10% on that should be an extra 10-20 hp.

So what are the details on the 350 HP turbo upgrade?

Well they also said the same 10% but for a much larger turbo, which should have netted 50-60 crank HP. That should've been something that you could feel from the seat of your pants, and also could have added more fuel to compensate for extra flow. It didn't happen.
Some guys actually tried it on a dyno and saw maybe a 5hp gain.

And I can sell you 4 nice compressor wheels for $400.

I'm not trying to be a jerk, just almost went down this road myself and trying to save people some money and hassle of swapping it out.

I understand. I wish there was a way to flatten the torque curve. My main complaint is that after 2800 RPM I can feel the torque curve drop off. My second complaint is that towing a big trailer I could use just a little more power to run at 65 MPH. Right now I'm stuck about 62 MPH @ 10.5 MPG. If I try to go 65 MPH it down shifts and runs at 3200-3500 RPM and for some reason the engine just doesn't quite seem to like it there. Perhaps the issue is lack of enough boost at that RPM.

So my goal is to get a 400 + ftlb torque curve from 1600 RPM to about 3600 to 3800 RPM if possible. I'd love to get to around 500 or 550 ftlbs by 2000 or 2500 and keep at least that until 3500.

HP wise I guess I don't really care about peak numbers as much as the torque curve being more flat feeling.

So if I can put an upgraded turbo in that accomplishes the above I'd be happy with 300 to 350 HP. I just don't really like black smoke so I don't want to do it with fuel only.
