Buying a 2013 Touareg TDI

What should I check over before I lay down the dough? How do I know if its received the fix or not? If I take it on a test drive what to look/listen for? It has 155k on the clock. Thanks for your input .

There will be decals under the hood telling you if the fix was performed.

Full service history or walk away.

Four IDENTICAL tires or walk away.

Anything not working - walk away.

Any warning lights on - run away.

Any oil or coolant leaks, or mechanical noises - gallop away.

If it all looks good, then before you test drive it, reset the gearbox.

Turn the ignition on, but do NOT start the car.
Press the accelerator firmly to the floor and hold it there for a full count of ten seconds.
Release the pedal, turn the ignition off and remove the key.

Any quirks the box has picked up from previous drivers will be cleared.

VW Touareg models are as follows:
Generation 1: T1 is model 7LA & facelift T2 is model 7L6
Generation 2: T3 is model 7P5 & facelift T4 is model 7P6
Generation 3: T5 is model CR7 [Not available in "VW Atlas" North America!]

Just push the button without applying the brake pedal. The ignition will turn on but it won't start.

Today I actually picked up my first Touareg , a 2013 Executive model with 157k on the clock. It’s got the horrid VW “fix” done in 2017 under the hood verified. Now I need “ Joe’s “re- verse Fix’ done asap once I can get an appointment! And yes, i did the trans reset twice and it truly works , shifts at under 2k revs and drove great! I don’t know how these great SUVS pulled prior to the “FIX” but can’t wait to get this done! Joe, if you see this post please call me or pm me and lets get a date for it to getter done right. I’ll let you all know how she works then! I want to go and get a Malone stage 2 done once Joe gets his part done! The pollution junk may fall off after that and it’ll be off roading “only” there after. Thanks for all your help guys!

Hey I've got a bit of a question on the oil dipstick (there is None) , however I did find a oil dipstick tube coming up in front of the engine a bit to the right. It has a rubber plug stuck in it that can be removed. However VW dealer says there is no dipstick available even though they also acknowledge the oil tube is there. I am a bit old school and like to pull oil dipstick rather than believe the infotainment system. DOES ANYONE KNOW WHERE ONE MIGHT SOURCE A DIP STICK FOR A 2013 VW TOUAREG TDI????

I believe the one from the '10 works, but you would need to verify that for a fact before buying one. Could try one from a salvage '10 TDI.
