3.0 emission update

So what hardware is changed out in a 2009 model. My dpf is on the blink so am curious what equipment is changed out in the process. I know there are software changes but is any hardware replaced?

Thank you

OK So my dealer just Called me and said that the update for an 09 is just software and no hardware equipment. Does this sound correct? The DPF replacement is going to be $1300. Thoughts?

What are your state''s emission controls like?

Could you delete the DPF and remap the car to give it a bit more go?

VW Touareg models are as follows:
Generation 1: T1 is model 7LA & facelift T2 is model 7L6
Generation 2: T3 is model 7P5 & facelift T4 is model 7P6
Generation 3: T5 is model CR7 [Not available in "VW Atlas" North America!]

Or you might be covered under extended warranty if you got the "diesel emission fix?"

HAVE FUN!

Unless something has happened in the last several months, I don't think VW has a fix for the 2009-2013 TREGs. I sold my 2012 back with no fix at the time which was june this yr. My understanding was that generation needed a hardware change. With so few cars in the group I think VW just paid a ton the get the cars sold back to them and get them off the road. I was stunned at the buy back price for my car.

There is a "fix" now. 2009-2012. Been hearing lots of problems with dealers not even being able to upload software for those years and vehicles in the shop for weeks at a time.

Glad to hear something is being done, but why would you fix your 8 or 9 yr old treg when you can turn it in and get a "new " 2016 TDI for almost nothing? My new 2016 had 1000 miles on it and cost me $1500.with my trade in 2012 TDI with 60,000 miles. Sounded like a no brainer to me.

sawtooth, if your vehicle is eligible, I recommend the buyback.

Buyback price + restitution payment is far higher than fair market value for the vehicle. That was my experience with a high mileage 2011 3.0 TDI.
