T1 - Exhaust Modders Heaven

Been doing a bunch of research here on CT and have learned a great deal. Dropped the suitcase muffler, resonator with H-pipe and Secondary Cats. I took the Magna-Flow route (2 Ovals, custom X-pipe, Stainless Tips) at the suggestion of Drexel Hill Autocare, Darby, PA - Josh.

Straight-off to find a shop willing to make the cuts and bends as needed is a statement by itself as well as the knowledgeable staff. My Treg was done in 2-days.

The outcome for a middle-aged adult was outstanding ... which means my wife approves and I'm satisfied as well. The T1 is smooth as butter until you stand on it and release ... I can only say "do it without reservation".

I put up a couple of photos ... you be the Judge!

Yes, very nice clean welds indeed. Great lookin set of custom made pipes!!!

For me, I just don't like the dual mufflers in the rear. I like my single one in the center where the resonator used to be. Allows for a pair of air compressors and an air tank in the rear instead...

You'll be happy to know the tips are from MagnaFlow as well. Notice the fab'd x-pipe. Also since we didn't do polished stainless we painted everything hi-temp black

Fab'd X-pipe

Nice slope and tons of clearance. Total weight savings about 100 lbs!

If you've been reading the older Exhaust threads and have seen reference to the cost as $400 to $600 for a setup like this - I'd think twice like around $1200 - $1500 not including 304 Stainless.

As I see it what I paid is roughly the cost of a pre-fab'd unit without installation and this setup is made just for this car.

wow!

Looking forward to some video clips. Also curious if the ol' "butt-dyno" shows any improvement along with the MPGs

Keep us posted

The T1 engine is stock sitting on a new lowered suspension (H&R) with new shocks (Bilstien) and 20" Porsche Wheels and Cayenne Bars. So much has changed and things were in such bad condition that I can't really say how much the exhaust has improved performance. I will say its a different vehicle ... one that soon may approach "cafe racer" status after it get's its Unitronic Tune.

The sound is awesome and intoxicating once she warms up - I'll post a clip once the tune is done.

I believe the tune will make the most gain overall in mpg and performance but clearly the suspension mod gets most of my attention at this point. I don't push it to the max because although I upgraded the brakes to slotted rotors and Hawk pads the beast doesn't stop nearly fast enough for me.

"For the street ... handling tempered with respectable power and the ability to stop on a dime gets you home at the end of the day ... along with the watchful eye above!
