Rough running at highway speed

So I just had an O2 sensor and a vacuum hose replaced and it didn't seem to fix this problem. It will start fine. Run fine in town for extended periods of time as well. However, I'm currently on a road trip and when it get's warm it feels like it just isn't getting enough air and just shakes. If I put my foot into it and kick it down into 5th gear at high RPM's, it's fine but, it doesn't feel like there is much power there. At least not as much as there would be if it was running right. Stopped for 5 minutes at a rest stop, looked under the hood, smacked it around a little, got back in and went back down the road and it was fine until today and another 30 mile trip down the road at high speed (80ish mph) and it started doing it again. Another 10 minute rest stop and it was fine. Went back the same 30 miles at a slower speed and nothing. I'm so confused! Any suggestions? The check engine light is of course on but, I haven't had a chance to see what the codes are.

Could be fuel air problem. Ever clean your throttle body? Kind of odd after a cool down car is temporarily ok. Maybe camshaft sensor or sensors giving incorrect position signal to ECU when they get hot? This might account for misfire codes. You could pull them and clean them, same for throttle body. Could also be PVC. Only other thing I can think of is a problem with the injectors. Depending on the quality of the direct ignition coils some have poor efficacy and can go bad. There are crap ones out there.

Hi All,

I have the same problem and I also realize that is when engine gets hot, first I thought that was because it had a manifold linkedarm broken but I replace it and didn't fix it. I'm going to scan it and later i will share my codes with you.

Thanks

get a VCDS scan.

All vw/audi engines must use 507.00 spec oil except non-DPF R5/V10 engines that must use 505.01/506.01
