Losing oil.

So, i noticed this afternoon that the 'reg was slightly sluggish. No bottom end torque. I got home, and checked the oil, and... surprise, it was low. Its not leaking, or smoking, so... what gives? I added a quart and a half, and it's back to normal.

Any ideas?

Remind us of year and engine again, a quart and a half is a lot of oil. On my 07 V8 that oil could hide in valley pan but would leak out of weep hole in front of engine drivers side below intake manifold. Hard to believe you have no evidence of oil leaking with that much oil gone and no smoking. Get underneath without belly protectors and have a look

04 V8. Literally, not a drop of oil on the ground of my driveway. Same at work. It does smoke a little when I take off when it's cold.

How often do you check oil level and how many miles do you run before oil change?

I checked it around 2 months ago, and the oil was charged at VW in February, at 141,000, it's at 147xxx, without full synthetic

You must be burning it if there a no signs of oil in Engine bay. I would check it weekly, use full synthetic and with your mileage change oil @ 5000 to 7000 max IMO

Lots of threads about PCV, use search. I believe on your engine it is on top and towards back of engine on drivers side
