Lack of Power - Touareg 2005 V6

Hi,
I recently purchased a used 2005 Touareg V6 with 54000 km on it.
I feel lack of power between speeds 40 & 70 km/h !!!
To restore the power again , I have to kick down the transmission to the 3rd or 2nd gear ; which looks abnormal to me.
Please let me know if you have any opinion about it.
Note: The original owner said he replaced both fuel pumps recently.

Try a gearbox reset. It costs nothing and takes 10 seconds.

Turn the ignition but do NOT start the car.

Press the accelerator pedal to the floor and hold it there for a full 10 seconds.

Release the pedal.

Turn the ignition off and remove the key.

The car will now learn how you drive, not the previous owner.

Thanks a lot.
I tried the gearbox reset , and I felt little improvement.
But still ; I think it's not giving the full power between 50-70 km/h !
I there anything else that I can try .
By the way , I tried the injector cleaner ( STP ) and it was little better while the contents were still there in the tank.
Appreciate your help anyways.

I bought my 2005 V6 in October of 2004. I have never been happy with low end acceleration. Still am not happy. The car is very heavy and had always taken a heavy foot to get moving, and move fast. At highway speeds acceleration is great. Not saying you may not have a problem but your expectation of more jack rabbit like speed generally requires a lead foot. Will move out faster in sport mode. Wife has a Tiguan that really takes off, she hates to drive my car and calls it a lumbering tank. Truth is she is to soft on the pedal, and the car should have only come out in a V8 as it is a tank. The gas mileage difference is insignificant.

Thanks for the comments..
I just wantred to mention also that some mild hesitation is there between 40 - 70 km/h !
The previous owner siad he had replaced the two fuel pumps about a month ago or so.
I'll try also some tune ups ( replacing spark plugs , air filter, ... etc. ), and will see how it goes .

Garage
Drive in tiptronic mode. You'll never complain about lack of kick power again.

Thanks.
The car has got 55k KM ( i.e about 35K miles ).
I tried the transmission reset, but little improvement.
The driving is mostly smooth except between 40 - 70 KM.
The car between 40-70 KM has also some hesitation !
I tried the fuel additive twice on full tank , but very little improvement.
Any suggestions ??

Stumble hesitation or just not enough pick up you expected. He'll in D from standing stop to 60mph is at least 9 seconds. The reason the porsche cayenne of the same year and same chassis sold so poorly was the crappy acceleration. Never should have put the vr6 in this car. Have you tried driving in "S"?
