Help me inspect the O2 sensors with VCDS, please.
Hi all, I recently had the catalytic converters (the ones right next to exhaust manifold) replaced on my 2004 Touareg V8 with 110k miles. I still get poor gas mileage (13-14 mpg) and suspect that the engine is running rich. The truck also lacks low end power. The scanner only shows an EVAP code and the mechanics claim that it has nothing to do with engine performance. I have already replaced the spark plugs and ignition coils, and had the coolant flushed. None of this has made any improvement to engine performance.
Needless to say, I am concerned because the engine running rich can ruin the new catalytic converters. I want to monitor the oxygen sensors and the injector pulse rate (injection timing). If I understand correctly, the O2 sensors can be monitored in group 32 on VCDS, and injection timing in group 002. But I do not know what the normal values are, what indicates a problem, etc. Hence I ask for help.
1) What are the normal values for group 32 and what would indicate a problem?
2) What is the normal value for injection timing and what would indicate a problem?
3) What else should I monitor and inspect?
