Engine misfire

Hi,

I have a 05 Touareg, getting an engine misfire in cylinder 2, I replaced the spark plugs, moved the coils around to see if the problem followed the coil, problem persists in cylinder 2, any ideas from here? Thanks!!

Pull the new plug out and "read it"..... are you dealing with a rich or lean condition?

Problem solved! I replaced the spark plugs and then shifted the coils around to see if the problem followed the coils, initially I thought it didn’t but I guess I didn’t run it long enough for all the faults to trigger. Took it for little drive and the rest registered, replaced coils in the 3 cylinders that were faulting and she’s all better!

VW coils are infamous for failures. At this point, I recommend replacing the coils and the spark plugs at the same time. It saves you the hassle of replacing bad coils later.

Back in the day when I used to drive VAG stuff with plugs, almost everyone was driving around with spare coils in the trunk..... it was just normal.
