'07 V8, spark plug change DIY ???s

Our '07 just hit 60k. Dealer wants $415 to change the spark plugs, pretty sure I can buy the parts for under $75. Any good tutorials floating around out there? This is the newer V8. I think it's an '07.5 because it took the T2 style PCV.

I have searched, but the posts all seem 3-4 years old. What NGKs do I need to buy for this? I have to order whatever cause no one around here carries them.

Hi, changing plugs is a very easy job especially on FSI V8, only thing you need is a torque wrench from 5-50nm is ideal, And just common sense. kind regards, Nikoloz

I just tossed in a set of NGK plugs @ 85k miles. The original VW NGKs were still in there. It's a pretty simple process. But I must admit... I'm never good at releasing those damn tabs on the coil packs. It never fails that I mangle at least one of those damn things!

I also tossed in a can of BG 44k fuel system cleaner. I'm getting ready to take another peak at my intake valves, and see what they look like. I did a "quick" cleaning last year. So I'm curious how they look now...?

Newbie DIY guy here thinking about replacing my own spark plugs and coils, which I have never done on this car (I've replaced the coils in my A4 before but that seemed a lot easier; the V8 kinda scares me)



My local shop said it would cost me around $500 just for the plugs and I'm getting misfire codes on cylinders 4 and 5. I'm also seeing error codes 17887, 17819 and 17831 - all related to the secondary air injection problems but that's an issue for another day. I think I'm just going to replace the coils and plugs all at once, seems logical.



So for the rook DIY'er, I had a few questions:


1. Would you guys recommend trying to replace plugs and coils yourself or is it a huge project left for professionals? (I'm pretty handy and would love some thoughts before I get started. I've read it's super easy but that's all relative)
2. Are these the tools/equipment I would need?

$50 for two tools that I might use 3 or 4 times? Unless they're harder to pull than my Audi, they seem kinda superfluous.
