'07 V6 Gas lopey idle issue

Hey guys,

Ran in to my first issue with my new to me '07 Touareg V6. I noticed today that it has started to have a bit of a lopey idle, fluttering/loping between 650-700 RPM. More noticeable in Park/Neutral, not under load. It is audible in Drive while stationary, but *barely* registers on the tach.

Runs, drives and starts just fine. No CEL. I haven't played with anything yet, I've been a VAG enthusiast for years and have played with older VR6's in the past (mostly 12V).

Planning on wiggling/checking the coil packs and see what it has for plugs tomorrow - peek around the engine bay. I've owned it for about 3 weeks and put 1100 miles on it including a successful trip up to the mountains.

Kind of a quick brainstorming thread, please chime in if you've had a similar experience! Thanks!

Almost sounds like a vacuum leak. Take some starting fluid and see if you can spray on vacuum hoses and intake manifold. If the idle increases in a certain area, look close there for a leak.

Quick update - got it scanned yesterday and of course it threw a host of multiple codes as expected: cylinder 1, 2, 5, 6 misfire, random multiple misfire.
P0011Intake (A) Camshaft Position Timing Over Advanced (Bank1).

Removed each coil pack and inspected, checked out small intake/vacuum hoses and didn't find anything. Started back up after checking things out and all symptoms are gone. Running just fine and took a 25 mile drive around town with no issues.

Planning on a re-scan and clearing the CEL. I will try the starting fluid trick for sure if the problem arises again.
