'04 V8 Throwing Code P0171

Hey all,

I know I'm a bit of a noob to the Touareg. Anyways, I bought this car a little under a year ago and I love it. Although, right now I'm having an issue. After fueling up yesterday afternoon, the Treg now has a check engine light on. I used my scanner and its coming back with a code P0171, System Too Lean. While driving, the car is "falling on it's face" and has a loss of power.

I understand that can be an lack of Air or gas issue. I came to this site and did a little searching and I can't seem to find this problem with the V8. They're all V6 threads. Reading some of these posts, the say check vacuum lines. So, I did that... I can't seem to find any cracked hoses. Another said the Coil Packs... Let's hope it's not that... And then I'm came across a thread saying the might have pumped the wrong gas...

So my question, Has anyone had this problem or have any ideas of how to fix this issue?

Any and all help appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

You need to replace fuel pumps... both... Search forum. You will see many occasions including myself.
check here to how to replace both pump+filter There are videos as well. costs ~$600 if you DIY. takes around 3 hrs and not a hard thing.

Burton123... How positive are you that it is the fuel pumps??? The research I have done tells me it's more likely to be vacuum lines or something to that degree.

What about fuel filter???

Thanks again.
