Click on User CP to update your profile with model, year and location. This helps others help you when you post questions.

Key thing for your year V10 is using the correct oil which MUST be VW505.01 or VW506.01 rated. Note that even VW dealers can get this wrong.

If you don't know what oil is in the sump with 1,000 % certainty then your old motor needs an oil and filter change ASAP to avoid premature camshaft lobe wear.

Do take the time to read the buying a used Touareg thread to get up to speed ASAP if you haven't seen it. It will probably save you money at some stage. The link is in my signature.

VW Touareg models are as follows:
Generation 1: T1 is model 7LA & facelift T2 is model 7L6
Generation 2: T3 is model 7P5 & facelift T4 is model 7P6
Generation 3: T5 is model CR7 [Not available in "VW Atlas" North America!]

Hello and welcome to the forums.
This should ALWAYS be the first thing a new member reads.

Definitely do take the time to search around the forums on the V10 engine as it will give you an idea as to what to expect as far as maintenance to keep your Treg purring.
