Trailer and trunk lid

When my trailer is connected, mytrunk lid doesn't open, it unlocks but I have to hold the button and lift it manually up.

On my old Audi Q5 the lid did open with power if I touched the lid switch from outside.

I quickly went through the convenience, central elect etc but didn't find anything refering to the lid and trailer.

Anyone....?

It's by design so you don't damage the hatch should it open into the trailer.

Correct...there is no work around for this...the towing module is designed to cut certain electronics during trailer use...this is one of them. Another is the rear parking sensors in the bumper.

My previous was Audi Q5 and the trunk lid protection with trailer worked the way user had to touch the lid outside switch (not the drivers door switch), first touch released the lid to "half locked stage" (or how ever it's called when the door is not fully sealed but it doesn't open either) and second touch used the power opening.

Is this manual opening NA feature to prevent the law suits or is this also in Europe and Australia?

It has the same behaviour in Australia.

IMHO the whole power tailgate logic is rather poorly thought out. Why?
  • Most trailers, like mine, will not obstruct the tailgate. In fact having a trailer connected prevents other objects getting in the tailgate's path. There's no way to enable it with a tailer connected.
  • The tailgate will happily crunch into a bike carrier, garage door, wall etc. There's no way to disable it in these situations.
  • The tailgate can be accidentally opened remotely (from a great distance) creating a risk of theft or damage. There's no way to prevent this.
VW have managed to turn a convenient accessory into a liability.

One solution would be to have a "Enable | Disable | Auto" setting for remote control of the tailgate.
I'm guessing that after the novelty of "door goes up, door goes down, door goes up..." wears off, most people would disable it.

c4ar,

Yep my trailer is not on the lids way and the previous Audi Q5 did power open and close with trailer so I would like to have Touareg to do same..

I found the adaptation and it seems to have something to do with lid control BUT I need the security code

shows the option but doesn't allow to change until security code is entered.

The common 20113 doesn't work...

Anyone....?

Thank you ROSS-TECH!!!!

I wrote email to them and asked the security access code and I got email...

I logged on and activated the opening and now my trunk have POWER opening and closing when trailer is connected.

I tried the lid switch so I'm not sure about the drivers door, I have to test it tomorrow.

Anyways, at least the trunk lid switch works!

Security access is 12345.

I also changed the pre-latch to main-latch and I have to test and change it back to "pre" to see if it makes any difference....

Bright front LED for light switch parking lights position with >< sign
(normal park position LED's are half from DRL brightness):
Change X to 1
Central Elect -> Byte 3: 3rd digit: 00000X00

(the zero's doesn't mean everyone haves zero, it's just to show the 3rd digit to change)

I had it on my Q5 and then thought to try and behold... this keeps the brightness on same level as on DRL's (I saw on Russian forum that there is way to control the actual brightness but that's something I have no desire to play with)

Another test...

The pre-latch and main-latch does seem to make difference so I turned it back to pre-latch.

Also checked the drivers door lid button and it power opens and closes the lid when trailer is connected.

Enabling passenger mirror tilt down on cars without memory seats,

- mirror adjusting knob on R (on lefthand drive cars)
- shifter on R

Mirror turns back to original position once forward speed exceeds few mph and it stays tilted if vehicle doesn't move.

Change A and B to 1.
52 Door Elect, Pass.
Long coding, Byte 4 -> Bits 2 and 6: 0B000A00

I was reading old codes from previous Q5 and saw the mirror thingie and thought to try does the passenger mirror turn down, it didn't so I tried the coding and now it works on mine.
