Like any modern cars more and more stuff goes beyond many of us!

I can't change a bulb in my latest pocket rocket because it needs a new headlight if it fails and It's LED headlights are GB1,000 a pop!

Yet they are certainly nowhere near as good as the excellent aftermarket Philips Ultinon LEDs (GB 150 / US $150) I've fitted in the 12 year old banger that serves as the station/local tip car!

VW Touareg models are as follows:
Generation 1: T1 is model 7LA & facelift T2 is model 7L6
Generation 2: T3 is model 7P5 & facelift T4 is model 7P6
Generation 3: T5 is model CR7 [Not available in "VW Atlas" North America!]

That's all I wanted to hear, it's no worse than any other modern vehicle that came with a 60k sticker.

As much as I love Touaregs and driving them, I have to say they are more of a hassle than any thing else I've seen. It's like VW engineers were high on something while designing some of the stuff on this car, just to make it as complicated as possible. Take for example the rear hatch struts. In most SUVs and station-wagons, you pop the hatch, hold it open with something, remove the struts which are right there in front of you, and put in the new ones. Simple. Try replacing the Touareg's rear hatch struts (T1 & T2). They had to hide them in the roof, so you have to disassemble half the headliner and various trim pieces in the vicinity thereof just to find out that you still can't get to them easily. And to keep this short, I won't even start on T1 headlights...

So, yeah, Touaregs are a huge hassle to work on. But I love 'em.

Did you clear them and see if they came back? They or the previous owner could have jumped the car to get it started. Its a 2013, so it sat in a lot for a year plus, it most definitely had a dead battery. Is there any warranty on the car? Are you picking it up from a VW dealer? The issues you see can be negotiated into the buy, if you identify them and get them written on sheet of paper, signed by the dealer as part of the closing deal.

Yeah the first read out in OP was from the initial scan. I cleared them and the dealer drove it around for a couple days. The post above yours was what came back after a week. It isn't a vw dealer, just a local used lot that is mostly higher end Germans.

I'm inclined to believe it is a battery issue as well. All the previous codes were on the same day, and the dealer said it had been sitting for a while and he hooked it up to a charger.

They're asking 25,900. I'm thinking of hitting him with 22 and seeing where we go from there.

I wouldn't turn away from the purchase, but would replace the battery with a high quality OEM Varta right away.
The age of the vehicle coincides with the expected lifespan of a battery, and the fact that it's been allowed to sit and die previously, certainly indicated that it's expected detrimental failure. I would expect it to tap out very soon if you don't replace it.
