Its an Aisin box
Heard no reports of failure being an issue.
Of course nothing is impossible just enjoy the trip.
What could you do to prevent an out of the blue issue anyway?

I have got the box serviced and made sure it looked ok, mechanic said it looks good. I got told it's a ZF box, was that incorrect?

If the mechanic made that mistake, can you be sure he serviced it ok? Might be a good idea to find another mechanic!

I thought that these boxes were difficult to service. That it involved some serious work to change the oil. My Treg is the same age, has done just over 100 K with most of it towing a 2.5 tonne van. I'm thinking of having my oil changed.

They take a fair bit of oil but have been told should service every 60-80k even though it's not a service item, don't think it will leave much change out of $1000.
