7L 2008 TDI Brake replacement - sparesbox

Hey all.

Another set of stoppers required for the Toureg. Sparesbox have a 20% off sale, with a good range of options for rotors and pads.
Anyone got a combo that they are liking at the moment? I used Textar rotors and pads on the last change and they stood up well, but they are no longer stocked. Don't need anything too fancy - a reasonable tradeoff between wear and performance.

Rotor choices:
- Brembo
- DBA
- Bosch
- HELLA Pagid
- Zimmermann
- RDA

Pad choices:
- Brembo
- HELLA Pagid
- TRW
- Zimmermann
- Bendix
- EBC

Best to match same manufacturer for pads and rotors for best fitment?

Also from memory, I replaced the rotor retaining bolts. Do these need to be done each time? Imagine that they a VW supplied item?

I'm currently running coated Zimmermann discs with Ferodo brakes. They dust a lot less than the OEM ones and the discs aren't covered by rust.

The bolts do not need to be replaced and not even the original repair manuals call for that (which are otherwise very liberal when it comes to recommending replacement of bolts, seals and gaskets). That said I think it's simply best practice to do so anyway, because the bolts are pennies, and then you don't have to worry at the next replacement whether they will come off or not.

Thanks Gnits.
I had Zimmermann coated rotors before the Textars and they were OK from memory. Can't remember what pads I matched them with.

Brembo discs with Pagid pads were OEM.

Brembo pads are made for Brembo by Pagid.
