You're pretty insistent about telling people what to do and what not to do. Yes, I've seen landscapers back a trailer down a 1/4 mile curvy driveway. So what? Not everyone pulls a trailer every day of their lives.

Pushing a trailer in tight spaces is effortless. Backing a trailer in tight spaces is a PITA.

Why is this a problem for you?

I have recently bought a Mirror 16 dinghy. The trailer for that boat is about 600mm high and about 1800 wide. Compaired to my other boat trailer it is minuscule.

It is completely invisible behind the Treg when backing. It cannot been seen in any of the rear vision mirrors. I cannot open the rear hatch due to the structure on the trailer for the winch and mast crutch.

It is fun to back.

The only way forward that I can see is to get a front mounted hitch.

Just weld a VW tow eye onto the goosneck section which holds your towing ball and screw the assembly it into your bumper, should be strong enough to allow you to maneuver your caravan or travel trailer around at slow speed.
How easy is that??

That I may investigate.

Thanks Tony

So I offer you products and you're still tearing into me?

YOU CAN'T SEE ANYTHING IF YOU'RE PUSHING A BOX THAT'S BIGGER THAN YOU going forward. I don't know how else to explain line of sight to you.

Someone please post a video of how much easier you will be pushing in a 8ft+ wide TT when you can't see anything ... Educate me

Agree with what you said however the front tow mounts I have seen were not mounted on the centreline of the tow vehicle but were offset to the passanger side presumably to enable the driver to actually see the along side of the trailer being pushed, not having had a first hand experience on this set up I cannot comment on how successful it is.

You could open the hatch, hook the trailer up and back it with the seats down.

I'd recommend something like this, and then take a 1" X 4" X 1" C channel that is 1/4" thick (could be 3/16 probably for lighter loads) and mount it to pickup the bolt holes where the stock tow hooks go. Bolt or weld a bracket with either a 1.5" or 2" square opening on it. You may have to cut the C channel to get it to curve and then weld the cuts.

I've been tossing this idea around for a front winch (or something) mount.

The front tow hook holes have a decent pull capability but need a load spreader to be more useful. Also you'd have to be careful with tongue weight as the tow hook mount points are not really designed for a lot of bending load.

Maybe when I get time I'll pull the front bumper and design a front mount hitch.

Or you could use any of the following an cut/chop weld them to the C channel and or the mount points for the recovery hooks.

Here are some ideas on what you could buy and adapt....

Nobody asked for your "products." Nobody asked you to explain line of sight. Nobody cares if you don't understand why pushing can be better than reversing.

What you don't seem to get it that the OP asked for help with a front hitch, not lessons on how to reverse. He did not ask for someone to keep telling him not to do what he wants to do.

FACT: There is no scenario in the real world where pushing a large boxy TT without seeing anything is better!

I'm trying to save the OP from wasting their money on BS solutions that are suggested by clowns who don't understand physics and all the other things "that no one asked me to explain etc"..... and I'm doing so by backing everything up with facts and logical explanations.

Maybe they will just look "under the trailer" like you did when you were pushing your planes or overtop of the trailer like when you were "pushing your wheelbarrow".

At the end of the day, the OP is free to do as they wish, based on the useful and/or useless information that we all provide them with. You don't need to see it my way, and I sure as F don't care what you say.

There's your opinion, and then there's reality.
