2012 Touareg v6 tow hitch info..

Hi guys,
I have a 2012 Volkswagen Touareg v6 gas engine, it's a sport model, but does not have the tow hitch. Once I add the tow hitch, does it already have wiring back there to connect it or do I have to get that also? Anyone know?

Thanks,
Kevin Rea

No.
Also, aftermarket hitches don't come with the wiring that plugs into the factory harness. https://www.vwpartsvortex.com/oem-pa...itch-7p1055203

If you read the other post, you should've understood how to check for existing harness connectors at the rear of the vehicle, in the quarter panels...... you will not have any wiring past that as you've never had a hitch option..... that is the point where you can start tapping into, or adding OEM modules\harnesses, etc.....

Are you going to need a brake controller, or will you be pulling a boat or smaller trailers without brakes?

Check your build sheet/Vehicle Specific information. You are looking for Product Code #15 - 1D8 (PR-1D Trailer hitch preparation.

If you have it then the rest of the info for a 2012 is available in posts.
