What if??

I have a question to pose upon some of the more tech literate gurus that either run, have run, or at least can help answer this question.

I am rapidly approaching my limit for stored attachments on the forum's bill. Now I see where I can delete my already currently uploaded attachments, however what I will now pose to you as my problem...

If I delete said photos, will they also be deleted in the posts of which they are attached and gone forever?

A simple solve will be for me just to use image shack or photo bucket, etc. etc. and just not worry about it. But that is a bit annoying when I have been able to use the forum's image hosting for attachments so easily up to this point.

Any and all help much appreciated.

Ziggy

Ok, time to test this out for myself.

Test image to follow, which will then be deleted from my attachments folder to see if it disappears on here.

Yep, it went bye bye....

Well, there's your answer for anyone else curious about this situation.

Once you hit your limit you will need to either toss away any old attachments and hope they weren't important for someone down the road or start linking in your images and video from some other hosting site.

Cheers,
Ziggy

This raises an important point: if someone does a couple of nice sets of photos for two different tasks on the car and hits their limit with the second set, it's not very helpful if they have to remove pix from the first set.

In these circumstances can the admin folk over-ride the set capacity?

Or do you create a new member's name like Ziggymackenzietoo to get round the limit?

While I'm sure that would work it would just be as easy like I was trying to point out once you hit that limit and do want to keep all of those pre-loaded imgs you will just have to take your business elsewhere to a new image hosting site to finish up/continue.

Yet you as well bring up an interesting point of could the img hosting on the sites be raised and what all would that entail. I'm guessing that would have to do with the servers that the forum is run off of and wouldn't be cost effective unless there were more supporting members, etc.

The UBERMEISTERFUHRERs can do anything including raising your pic limit. However that will cost you usually... ohhh but you're not in Houston anymore... bummer...
