Unhappy v6 TDI mpg

Hi,

My first question ...

What is your city mpg ?
Mine (Touareg V6 TDI) is 12 and I was wondering if its OK (much higher than the specs).

My 2010 treg tdi averages 25 mpg US in the city. This is about 10L/100km. I average about 900km/ tank, fill ups are around 90L of fuel

The OP has never posted back again since Jan, 2009. Two posts total. For what its worth, his 12mpg figure on his TDI engine makes no sense at all, and in fact, completely unbelievable no matter how out of whack it is.

V6 TDI's are awesome in fuel IF DRIVEN CORRECTLY! End of story. If fuel use is so bad, it's (Treg) got a serious problem and you'd know that by driving it. Otherwise, it's poor driving style. No other reason is plausible; none.

I drive mine aggressive for a 6000 lb suv and still manage to get 25+ mpg in the city. I can't imagine getting lower than 20. Even towing in the mountains with four guys I was still 25+.
In the winter, its cold here, -30 c and lower and I still manage 23+

Hi

I'm new here, but somehow I read this thread cause of haven't anything to do, and all the time can't believe that possible is to do 12 mpg in city. My treg smoke 25-30 mpg in city, not cause bad driving just of bad diesel from station suppose... But is it possibly to do 12? (it's 5L/100km?).

Thanks,
Duszek

I don't think it's 12 mpg it's 12 liters on 100 km, and that's fully possible.

Ok I know the difference in US and European gallons, but 1 mile per gallon = 0.425143707 kilometers per liter, and I calculate it this way.. Dunno if it is correctly?
