Fault code diagnosis problem

Can anyone shed any light on this.
Got fault code up a while ago due to engine management light coming on.
17755-226
fault shows camshaft sensor. my vw is the 3litre V6 so I changed both sensors and reset the codes.
Few days later the engine management light is back on with same code.
Someone said it could be timing chain but I'm all at a loss now.
Any ideas anyone?

The timing chain on the V6 3.2 petrol [I assume Brighton UK?] can wear/stretch.

Normally you will hear it chattering.

As it sits at the back of the engine it's a bugger to access and most people drop the engine and gearbox if they fit a new chain though it has been claimed that if you have very small hands you can replace the chain without dropping the motor.

Some people have been able to fix the problem by removing the tensioner and re-priming it in a bath of oil but I haven't seen any photos or videos of anyone doing this.

If you go for a new chain, then I know someone who has just been down this route and it cost 1,800.

Yes correct, brighton uk
You definitely think I need a new chain then?
There's no way I could afford 1800 for that.
Nightmare!

No one can properly diagnose something like this over the internet.

You need to find an independent who has experience of working on the 3.2 engine and asking them. This engine is used in quite a few VAG cars including Audi.

Yes, good advice, don't want to take it to vw though, their prices are extortionate
