Boot struts

Opening the boot door suddenly became very heavy and the boot does not stay in place in the raised position.
I suspect one or more of the gas filled struts has failed. Probably need replacing.
How do I go about it?

The key piece of equipment in replacing the struts is the luber.

If you come back and ask what the luber is, then it will simply demonstrate you have not properly read the how-to I have posted the link to!!

VW Touareg models are as follows:
Generation 1: T1 is model 7LA & facelift T2 is model 7L6
Generation 2: T3 is model 7P5 & facelift T4 is model 7P6
Generation 3: T5 is model CR7 [Not available in "VW Atlas" North America!]

Thanks NoobyToogy. Great advice
Once I got the lurber out the way and engaged the sparlash everything went fine.
Between the rear window and rear hatch I found a 2 popped gas struts, one disconnect leaving one functioning strut.
Thanks again
