Tablet mount for 2015 Touareg?

Hi, fellow Treg owners.

I've been poring through the forums to find tablet mounting help, but have been unable to find anything for my 2015 model year.

My hope is to mount my Android 10" diagonal tablet above the RNS 850 display (i.e. in front of the flip-up storage compartment) (see redlined photo below)

  • A CD-slot mount would be easiest, but sadly no CD slot!
  • I'm OK with covering buttons and part of the RNS screen if the mount still gives me button access.
  • Maybe something similar to the center-mounted ProClip that user thisbenguy did on his 2009 Treg? (his thread here) Alas, ProClip only makes angled side mounts for the T2

Do any of you have suggestions for a tablet mount?

Am I out to lunch to implement this idea?

I look forward to any constructive recommendations!

Some mornings, it's just not worth chewing through the leather straps.

Please report back if you end up finding anything. I did find a pic once showing that a proclip tablet holder fits in the storage compartment opening, but nothing showing how or if the person ended up securing it.

For sure!

Tablet mounting has been been a long Google journey, with mixed results at best. I am unable to find a tablet mount that A) is specifically made for the Touareg 7P and B) is centered on the dash above the DNS 850 display.

Thus far, I've seen the following mounting approaches:

  1. Suction cup mount. (not my first choice!)
  2. CD slot mount. (no bueno for us that have the CD player in the glovebo)
  3. Cup holder mount. This is attractive for ease and quick removal, but the snaky arm is not a good experience
  4. Hard mount to the passenger seat floor rail. Adds a lot of kit to the cabin. (see photos below)
  5. Air vent mount. I won't consider this unless it bridges across two air vents.
  6. Wedge mount. (between seat and center console). Meh.
  7. Wedge tab mount. (this is one of my preferred approaches, but no luck finding something suitable yet; see BMW photo below)
  8. Dashboard cubby hole mount. (see Njord's and Mohammed's posts above)

(supporting photos to follow)

Option 1: Suction cup mount. I like the look of this particular example, but I don't care for suction cups, and I don't think this will suit the dashboard curve of the 2015 Touareg:

Option 3: Cup holder mounting: https://www.autoanything.com/mobile-...p-holder-mount

Option 4: Seat rail hard-mounting: Looks relatively solid, but adds a lot of kit to the cabin.

Another Option 4 example:

Option 7: Some Garmin mount made for a BMW. I'm interested in learning more about this product.

My market scan continues. Will update this thread with my findings...
