Recalibration after tyre fittinng.

I have been told by the dealer that after fitting new tyres to my 2016 Tourareg (same brand, tread pattern etc) that I must have the computers and cameras recalibrated at a cost of $400. Is this necessary or part of the dealers add ons. Have never needed it previously with other makes with similar equipment levels. Appreciate advice

Not needed at all. The dealer is taking you for a ride.

I second the comment above this. Have them fit the tires. Make sure you test it on the highway at the controversial 75MPH or so to be sure they balanced/mounted them correctly and there is no steering wheel shake.
