Intake Manifold Flap - Code

Dear Club,
Can anyone help, I got the below error, and cleared it with my VagCom, where is the location of the manifold flap? Is there any quick fix?

Thanks in advance for your help and wisdom.

Joe

Surprisingly, it's on the intake manifold. And if your next question will be: "But where's the intake manifold?", then I suggest you just take your car to a shop to have it fixed.

The not so quick (but easily DIY-able) fix is to take off the flap, and try to clean it (because it usually has a lot of carbon/oil buildup), and see whether that makes the error go away, or if that doesn't help, then replace it.

Here's the "intake flap", which is also known as "anti shudder valve" or "shut-off flap" in diesel engines (and which - to confuse matters even more - is called "controller lid" by the parts database) in action. Behind it you can also see the EGR valve, which however you most likely won't have on a 2006 model:

Thx. I did take off the cover and I saw what looked like 2 motorized housings attached to the left and right manifolds. I checked the wire harnesses and tapped the housings in case something was a little stuck. In my fault I canít figure if it is the left or right that is having problems

It says V157, so, that's Bank 1. Which means the right side of the engine. Left side, when you're facing it from the front with the hood open.

That said, because both flaps are presumably of the same age and in the same condition, I suggest you also take off the one from the other side, and give it a thorough cleaning (after the first one), because that just might be not so much away either from throwing a code, if it's all carboned up.

Of course it's possible that it's the electrical part of the flap that's shot, in which case cleaning the mechanical part will not fix the issue. It's still worth a try though.
