Question Front fog light out one side only but not the bulb.

Hi the passenger side fog light does not come on. No warning light inside car.
However if I swap over the working driver side fog light to the passenger side, that does not work either, but the warning message telling me the drivers side is out comes on.
This leads me to believe that the wiring to the passenger side may be faulty, but then why no warning message?
Does anyone know if the fogs are fused separately, I have no other exterior lights not working, however my interior gearbox lights don't come on, or the lower dash lights like the warning or child seat.
Any advice / checks I can do before taking it into my dealer for inspection. Thanks

Scan it with VCDS to get a better idea.

Short Circuit to Ground / Body Control Module?

Ok so the scan came back with Short Circuit to Ground. I'm getting the same message with the foot well lights, and Terminal 58 (illumination dimmer).
I have taken it to the VW Dealer and they investigated and said the car requires a new Body Control Module? Can this be the case for simply one fog light not working? The car knows is not lighting up as when you turn on them on the bult error comes up on the dash.
Would the Short Circuit to Ground on those items indicate a particular bad fuse or bad ground wire somewhere on the car?

You shouldn't be using a VW dealer for a 12 year old car.

Ask around for a good VW specialist who will be a lot cheaper and preferable a specialist who runs a Touareg himself!

Hi Nooby, thanks will check that site out. Unfortunately my local VW 'Specialists' were either more expensive (for questionably non-VW parts) or uninterested in carrying out a window regulator replacement so it went into my local dealer who I use for my Audi, and they did a fantastic job on that.

I'd check all wiring and connections before considering a new module.... very unlikely that only one circuit would fail in the module.
