Propshaft vibrating

Hi there I'm new to the club but I'm hoping that one of you tecno's out there maybe able to help. The front driveshaft support bearing failed a couple of months ago so I took it to my mechanic and he marked it up and removed it for me to take it to a propshaft specialist for another bearing fitting ( this company has a really good reputation and been trading donkeys!) I collected my propshaft with new bearing and my mechanic refitted it?All seemed well but my wife told me that the car has a vibration that you can feel coming up through the car that starts about 30mph upto 40 mph. She's the person who drives the car all the time as a daily drive and assures me it's only just started since we've had the new bearing fitted.. my mechanic had my car back in and checked everything including wheel bearings ,suspension ,all bushes etc and could find nothing. I called the propshaft company up and the guy was very helpful but couldn't think of any reason why this should be happening. I asked about balancing the propshaft. He said it was already balanced when it come in so they don't touch them . Not sure if fitting a new support bearing would effect anything?? Has anyone got any ideas or opinions please. Cheers Al

You either have a misaligned centre bearing bracket or the replacement shaft is duff.

Take the car back to garage and tell.them to fix it.

VW Touareg models are as follows:

Generation 2: T3 is model 7P5 & facelift T4 is model 7P6

It's the original propshaft only the support bearing changed. Can the support bearing be misaligned? Cheers Al

IIRC, the CV joint has to be removed in the middle. Maybe it was not match marked and put back in the same orientation???

Thanks for that but my mechanic assures me that it was marked up prior to removal of the propshaft and he's very thorough. Cheers Al

Someone's buggered something up somewhere. It happens.

Firow have done quite a few shafts.

Nip over to Firow in Cheshire and start again - about 90 minutes and 300.
