Announcement - Photobucket images no longer working

Hello,

Photobucket.com has recently changed its terms of service for free users on their platform. As of June 20 images hosted by Photobucket and shared on our forum, or any other third party sites, will no longer appear. As a result, you may notice a higher amount of broken images on the forum.

If you do not have access to edit your older posts please contact an Administrator or Moderator for assistance. Please provide the new URL for the image that needs to be edited and a link to the thread the image in located in.

More information on the change and what it means for Photobucket users can be found below.

Photobucket Terms of Use http://photobucket.com/terms

Thank you

Please note the other option:

If you do not have access to edit your older posts please contact an Administrator or Moderator for assistance. Please provide the new URL for the image that needs to be edited and a link to the thread the image in located in.

From this point onward, it's recommended that you upload your images via attachments but you can choose what you would like to do in terms of switching over to another hosting site - just be cautious and mindful that it may only be a matter of time til they follow suit (to what Photobucket did). The instructions provided above is a temporary fix that we can offer at the moment to help restore your images until we have a more concrete solution soon.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Cheers,
Natalie

and the links are already beginning to show as 'broken'

Okay...if you want to retrieve images you have hosted at Photobucket...you better be quick.

1. Go to https://secure.photobucket.com/login and login to your account.

2. Next to your avatar/username on the left hand side, select "View Library"

3. At the next screen go to the menu on the right hand side of the screen. 3 menu headings "Share this album", "Actions" and "Description". In the area under "Actions", select "download album".

Now, I did have issues doing this in Google Chrome, so I resorted to Mozilla Firefox.

4. The software will go thru various checks to ensure you are a human, and it will then download a zipped file, which appears to contain all the images you have loaded into your photobucket account.

Only one small problem......the filenames have a small encryption/coded name now. You will have to go thru and re-title them (if necessary), but, at the very least, you have the photos that were in your photobucket account.

Hope this helps everyone.

Thanks, Steve_L. Please note we are still waiting on a more concrete solution to all this - we will alert you once we have an update.

If anyone comes across any useful tips, please let us know and test it yourself as well us provide us some details as to what device/browser you are using so others can follow suit.

As such, we've come across an extension for Chrome users that will enable you to see the broken images hosted from PB. Another temp fix for now (who knows how long it'll hold up) but here it is -
https://chrome.google.com/webstore/d...bifiaedg?hl=en <- click on that link and do the following:

Add Ext > open the added ext at the top right corner of your browser "P" > select Manage Ext > tick off the box for both Allow in Cognito and Allow access to file URLs > refresh link of affected images to see they're visible again!

Let us know if this works for you and/or if you need further assistance.

Cheers,
Natalie

Thanks Natalie,

I found your tip somewhat 'cryptic'.

Can you provide more detail to this instruction please?

Sorry about that, Steve_L - here's a better explanation of how to add the ext:

Click the link and choose to add the extension to Chrome. Then, you want to go to the Extensions main page. It's located in the top right corner menu button, the one that is 3 dots. Or, you can try this link: chrome://extensions/

Find the one you just added (it's icon is the shape of a puzzle peice) and check the box that says "Allow Access to File URLs"

Clear cookies in cache, load up a page with a photobucket link, and see if it worked.

I've included screenshots to highlight the steps I've done:

I hope that's a bit more clear Let me know if you need more assistance.

Thanks,
Natalie

thanks Natalie,

Your post #5 didn't actually explain that there was a Google Chrome Extension titled "Photobucket Embed Fix" that we needed to locate within the Extension page.

Cheers

My mistake - the link should've opened up to the exact ext titled "Photobucket Hotlink Fix" - for any other Chrome users that would like to give it a try:

https://chrome.google.com/webstore/d...ifiaedg?hl=enm

Please see above for screenshot visual aids on how to add this extension to view the broken images.

Thanks, Steve_L for letting us know it works for you - I'm glad it helped you!

Cheers,
Natalie

Some updated links:

For Chrome:
https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/photobucket-embed-fix/naolkcpnnlofnnghnmfegnfnflicjjgj

For Firefox:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/fir...-embedded-fix/

If you're having problems, clear your photobucket.com cookies and cache. This may not last forever, so definitely save as many pics as possible.
