2009 TDI Died on road

Engine Fault/Emergency Service message displayed just seconds before engine died and would not start - had to be towed. Has anyone seen/heard this happening?

2009 TDI Died on road

VW just diagnosed as "high pressure fuel pump failure". Entire fuel system must be replaced.

Anybody have this happen to them?

Hi mate

I seem to remember reading about a lot of HPFP failures on T2s. Have a search.

Good luck

My 09 TDI engine has just shut down in similar circumstances after hitting a deep rut in the road. Will not start and the glo light symbol stays lit when you try to start it.
Dealer has had it now for 48hr. and can't diagnose the problem. Anyone have some thoughts on this?

How many miles on the car?

If you recently filled up, make sure to locate and retain the receipt. It is possible that the fuel was contaminated. Some people go collect a sample at the station to back up their claim. The HPFP is rather intolerant of gasoline or water in the fuel. VW might help out, but don't hold your breath. If the fuel is contaminated, the fuel station has some culpability. Lots of info out there on this, particularly with the 2009 on up Jettas and Golfs. GM and Ford have also had their share of failures. Lots of reading, but at the end of the day, you could be paying 5 figures to repair a car that might not be worth much more than that.
