    PART 4:

Now, after all I've read, my concerns regarding installation are:

    - Is it too involved? Seems the newer models are very straightforward.

    - Possible grounding/buzzing issues. My best bet would be get your help regarding this. I'm very good following instructions, and I'm comfortable soldering/dremel/destroying equipment :)

    - Biggest concern besides cabling is parasitic draw that might damage the battery. Read several posts from you, but decided to skip for now since it was sounding very alien and was giving me a headache :)

    - Possible issues regarding hotspot and the radio crashing, read you posted about this. First things first, so I guess I'll focus on OS/Apps related concerns once installation is done.

    - For later, upgradeability/hacking.

Thank you so much in advance for your help!

    PART 3:

Volkswagen Touareg Android OS GPS Navigation Head Unit

This is the model Allen Wong from our forums has pointed to, but is definitely an inferior product, with Quad-core CPU, 16Gb ROM, and if I remember correctly, upgradeable to Android 6.

    Lastly, the one you have?

Ownice DGS7903F C500 Quad Core Car DVD Player GPS for VW Touareg - Free Shipping - DealExtreme

Think regardless of OS (assuming the unit can be upgraded with root) it makes more sense to get the Octa-core with 32Gb than the Quad-core 16Gb right?

    PART 2:

I read you are mostly familiar with the Ownice C500, which you had to battle with back then. I've been looking mainly at newer units with preferably Android 7+ and octacore CPU. Hopefully you can point me in the right direction. Main goal for me is 11 speakers, CANBUS, no bypass of digital amp and as easy installation as possible because of my limited knowledge of car stereo installs. As far as music goes, main goal is either using Spotify from the unit itself or A2DP from my iPhone 8.

The models I've looked at, in order of what I think is best are (feel free to suggest newer):

Octacore CPU, 32Gb of storage, Android 7.1, specifically mentions no bypassing digital amp, and all 11 speakers will be usable. I'm guessing canbus translator is the same all similar radios use. They also offer the exact same radio with Android 6.0 at the same price

    Hey Ionman,

After reading over 70 pages of the threads researching about an aftermarket radio to replace my Touareg 2004 V8 RNS2 CD-Nav stock radio (11 speakers and digital amp), I realized you are the person most knowledgeable in both installation and tweaking the OS, which is a passion I share with you.

Hope I'm not bothering you too much with a few questions so I can make a purchase decision, since I haven't received replies to my posting in the forum. I don't want to take this lightly since returning these products is a lengthy and expensive process (granted, not as expensive as having to get a newer Touareg!! ;) )

I cant send you a private message because my post count is less than 15, and there's a character limit in here of 1000 characters, so I guess I'll send you several messages, hope you don't mind...
