Quick up date to all whothis helped on this. Did do a tranny filter change and oil of course, absolutely required it was bad. It has helped 100%, however still got a few hard shifts, but only when the ESP off indicator is on. Have some major connection problems on this car. Nonetheless, the transmission is now operating realtively smoothly for a 10 year old car. But when it gets hot the transmission can get rough again. Really do suspect the valve. Anyone figured away to modify to force to stay open? Buying a new one here is another major problem.

No.

The valve chest is a very complex item.

You need a new valve chest.

Yep, it's that Bloody temp switch in the feed to the Tranny cooler under the rad. We have constant 25-30c here so need to warm it up before cooling, it needs it straight away. Anyway would like to fix that thing open as it fails closed. Any suggestions?

Hey guys
I'm having sort of the same issue with my TREG 06 4.2L V8.
Here's what's going on, when I step on accelerator harsh to quickly get around someone it downshifting smooth but then once I don't need acceleration no more it upshifts really harsh from 4-5th with a feeling like I just got rear ended!
I've tried to get around using TIPTRONIC but still same issue.
However it only does it once you step on it to accelerate fast , once at normal driving tranny works and shifts smooth.
Just wanted to see where should I start ? Replacing a fluid and filter only ? Or do a valve aka chest body as well???
Car has 75k miles , no engine or fault codes

Known fault.

You need a rebuilt or a new valve chest fitted to the gearbox.

Plenty of threads on here about it.
