I received an update today from a VW rep that the 2009 MY Touareg V6TDI will fist appear at the LA Auto Show coming soon.

VW dealers will be receiving 1 per dealer in Mar/April to take orders on for July delivery!

It seems that it keeps getting pushed a little bit, however, this is the latest news!

I have plans to stop by the LA Auto Show when it opens on Friday. I'll let everyone know if I see anything.

Some of the vehicles - the performance Tiguan and the pair of CC's shown at SEMA were seen at Findlay VW's showroom in Vegas last week - the rumor that they were awaiting transport to the LA Auto Show as well.

Hope it well do well when it arrives...just got a flyer in the mail from Jeep, they have a $15K off deal on the Cherokee V6 CRD Diesel (M-Bs engine) They are giving $3K off or so for employee pricing and 12 grand incentive ...that's basically 40% off the price of the vehicle! OUCH.

Great deal but in my humble opinion, it's still a Jeep!

Yep, still a Jeep.

I think the available selection of offroad vehicles is going to get short - The last model year for FJ's will be 2009; I am kinda expecting Hummer to vanish or get sold off quickly to a defense builder as GM hits reality. I could see a sharp reduction in model line for Jeep to the essential line-up - and realistically, Chrysler isnt exactly on stable footing so Jeep could be sold off to raise capital. Ford just sold off Mazda. Any bailout to the big three will likely have a hybrid/alternative fuels mandate.

That would leave a gutted Jeep, Land Rover, Touareg/Cayenne, and modified Toyota / Pickup vehicles as workable 4x4 platforms. Am I leaving anyone out?

agree with everything you said...all the full size pickups will survive (except maybe the ram)..GM and Ford both have smaller displacement 1/2 ton diesels coming out next year, this will help salvage the F150/1500 market. They've already shut down a big GM truck plant in Oshawa so supply should be closer to demand for 1/2 tons...The 3/4 and 1 ton market isn't affected, if you are driving one of those its because you need it...

I don't like the Cheep at all, but just used it as an example of the state of the nation...

NOt sure about the actual survival of the Big 3, I watched the Senators question these ass's around 12:00 to 03:00 this morning. They did not come of well and what is this all 3 flew in to DC with their own corporate provided jets to beg for public money? 3 private jets for 3 people? Take the corporate private jet and cannot take public transport to beg for public money. It was highlighted in the Q/A of these guys but what I read was each one of the Big 3 spent appx. 20,000 USD for this excursion when an economy ticket would have cost them less than 300 USD and a 1st class ticket would have cost just under 900 USD. What kind of signal does this send to everyone, we cannot take public transport but we can come and beg for public money so we can keep our lifestyle and perks?
