Touraeganic -

Have your friend call me!

Prices are listed on the website, but it's very easy to discuss this with someone over the phone. There may be more to it than he realizes, so a conversation is always advised. Call any time!

Geoff

Geoffrey - I had the brakes installed last week at our dealership. I was VERY impressed, particularly regarding the following five items:

1) the packaging was first-rate
2) delivery time was better-than-expected
3) the brake components themselves were superior, IMO, to the OEM materials
4) your prices were far less than those quoted to me from my dealer
5) you were a tremendous resource for Q&A from start to finish

The overall cost savings were approximately $200, or about 15%.

The brakes have better pedal feel and less dust. Win/win, IMO.

It was a pleasure doing business with you, sir. Thanks again!

Alretta.com used to be an alternative cheap source of brake parts for Touareg. But if you shop around you will find many online retailers that will sell you original OEM parts for less than Geoff. Also you will not be talked into buying the whole kit which is over 700 dollars just because Geoff believes that you need to service all axles at the same time and change all hardware. And he also believes or implies that aftermarket is better than original parts, which I personally disagree with.

I used an online VW retailer (omitting name so people don't think I am advertising) and they were able to lookup OEM parts using my VIN # and absolutely no pressure of buying more than I needed. On the top of that they were cheaper than Alretta.

No flaming, just another opinion.

Yes I too thought I knew better than Geoff...he told me if I was doing my front I should also do my rears or will have to real soon. I thought he was trying to upsell me then sure enough my rears went our 1,000 miles later (he was right). Not sure why you favor original OEM parts Geoff has specific reasons why his supplied parts are better. Most importantly he supplied everything I needed (including tools) and was immediately available on the phone to answer any questions, all for about 1/3 of what the stealership did when they changed the brakes last time. Not sure what else you can ask of a GREAT vendor. Worth every penny and I would not care to waste my precious time looking elsewhere...

No doubt there are much cheaper alternatives available (check ebay) but for my 70k V10 touareg I wanted a great deal on great parts not the cheapest out there. I got them from Geoff...

(Thank you, Carl! - I appreciate your kind words!)

Garry-

Let me repeat my post from another thread you posted this opinion on:

"Garry,

I'm sorry that you feel that way. There is little question that every brake job has a best practices algorithm and a "less than" best practices equation to it. I speak for the best practices approach to refurbishing brakes. Perhaps you speak to the other side of the matter? You can't do the brake job correctly more than one way.

There is really little middle ground with the Touareg's Brembo systems, but companies that are used to equivocating with customers to achieve sales may in fact not stand up to the "less than" best practices audience and declare the hierarchical point of view... I am not in that camp, and my performances speak for themselves.

Enough said?

Yours,

Geoff"

I'm 43-thosuand miles down the road on my set of Alretta front brakes from Geoff... and happy to to report there is still a bunch of meat left on the pads.

My advice to anyone who thinks they can do the job "cheaper" and by cutting corners.... feel free to do so... it's your vehicle. Coming in here and flaming someone who is WITHOUT QUESTION a tremendous resource to all of us --- is just petty, childish bulls**t. Maybe that should stop.

Also remember this... your brakes and your tires are the only items on your vehicle the play the biggest role in keeping you and your loved ones alive. If that matters to you... then... you're likely the kind of person who sees the even bigger value to Geoff's efforts in this forum.

There are many alternatives for OEM brakes.
Jeff's set is a very good replacement set that exceeds OEM several ways and the other convenience is that you get everything you need to do a full brake change.
I went a different route. Searched the internet and decided on zimmerman rotors and hawk pads. Awesome stuff and a good price.
Changed the fronts after around 50 k (sensor had not gone off yet!!!)
My rears are still going strong at 78k!!!! miles.
No squealing and almost no dusting and great stopping power.
It is just what you prefer.

Well said but let me ask you this. If all things being equal why don't we support the person that is supporting us and our rare and unique vehicles (he owns one by the way if you didn't know). Zimmerman and Hawks are great, so are Geoff. So, let's support Geoff. Just my humble opinion.

I agree and I've got Geoff's brakes on my truck, they are top quality brakes and the best part was I didn't need to think or check or lookup anything. I picked up the phone and a box showed up with everything that I needed.

All that that said I don't agree with shooting down other thoughts and opinions- if for whatever reason someone wants to buy elsewhere, there are quality parts available from many sources including OEM from your dealer. People should be free to let others know about good buying or good product experiences from anyone/anywhere.
