I had to use the VAG-COM to get the "Check Please Lights" message to go away. It seems though some people don't have that issue though.

@MDFitalia: I think you order just the low beam set ... I've read that most people don't replace their halogen high beams with HID (my Volvo has Halogen for high beams).

For those of you that have installed these, does anyone have another suggestion other than Direct Connection Tuning? They seem to be having trouble with PayPal ... and I can't get an order to go through.

I've searched the forums and come up with a few links, but I thought I'd ask if anyone had a kit (and an associated link) to an HID kit (preferably plug & play) they were really satisfied with? I'd be more than happy to get the DCT kit for $100... but since they're out of commission at the moment, I'm looking for other alternatives.

Suggestions?

I will get me a set for my T-reg. I did order some little things for my Mk3 from them before, no problems.

I followed Chris344's awesome DIY instructions last night and installed the Nightvision H7 HID lights from Retro Solutions LLC. They were $89.99 shipped. Honestly, I would have bought from Direct Connection Tuning, but they are currently "disabled" by PayPal and unable to receive orders.

NightVision H7

I bought the 35w kit and it installed super easy. Took less than an hour, all together, including my inept first attempts to get the headlights out (forgot exactly how they worked... again). Got the lights in, started up, and worked the first time. Very nice setup, with a lifetime warranty on bulbs & ballast. Retro Solutions seems well respected, and their guy Todd was super helpful. A highly recommended upgrade.

Cutoff on the bulbs was perfect, and I felt better going 35w on an aftermarket kit than 55w. In any event, a great option.

One last thing, Chris344's instructions were right on for the wiring colors and matchup, too (just FYI for anyone that tries this with the Retro Solutions kit).

Thank You for this very informative posting. Has any one done the H9 bulbs as well. I was a little concerned with the wires for the OE harness being bare plug into the plug but apparently this is how all of the kits are. My 9005/9006 kits had a plug that matches the OE bulb harness. Thanks

I bought mine from carhidkits.com. I bought the Philips brand and like them, have had no problems after vagging DRL's off. The question is if these are actually Philips brand, but the store warranties these for two years. Other stores give lifetime warranties. I want to go with a cheaper brand for my high beams and fogs.
