Changing V6 Spark plugs

hey, just had my plugs replaced, and i thought i could share it with you.
first of all, u need to get yourself a size 16mm spark plug socket, a flat head screw ( just to help with removing the plastic covers )
1- remove the oil cap, then gently pop up the plastic cover, and replace the cap again ( to prevent dust from going in ).
2- gently remove the plastic cover on the vertical wiring set.
3- pop up the rear plastic cover ( with the VW logo )
4- release the spark plugs connectors ( they may be hard to pull )
then when they are all released, remove the plastic that holds the wiring from the engine, usage of screw here is very helpfull.
5- after removing the plastic, u can now pull all the wires out.
6- replace plugs, and fix again.
7- grab a very cold beer
its very simple, just be carefull when removing the plastic covers, not to break them, and the wires might be little hard to pull.

Were you having issues, or just changing the plugs routinely? Any signficant improvement with new plugs? I am getting up there in mileage and have not swapped out the plugs yet...just curious.

yes, there was a little delay in response to acceleration.
somehome it feels like the car is not as responsive as it was, and the idle is just not as smooth.
for me it was more than 2 years, of usage, around 50,000 Km.
after replacing, the response is back to normal, and the idle is very pleasing.

Care to share where you bought plugs, how much, and if the gap was correct out of the box? I think the V6 and V8 use the same plugs.

I'm coming up on 60k and starting to stockpile parts for the service, tyia!

V6 and V8 plugs are different from one another. I got mine for my V6 from 1stVWparts for about $12 each, and they came pre-gapped in VW boxes.

Have fun!
Matt

got the replacement set from Bosch.
its the exact relpacement -ready to fix- for the NGK sparks that comes from the VW factory.
its just that i like Bosch.
and the price was about 50$ for the whole set from Bosch dealer.
that should be 8.5$ each.
