WOW! the same exact coil did the same to me!!! You have to give it a twist a couple of times before pulling... I learned the hard way too.

Doesn't that suck! You know it really pisses me off when the dealer does things like that! So I guess it would be WAY to easy for them to just call another dealer, even if it was out of state to get the part? Making a person wait three weeks for a common part is just stupid in my opinion

I think there is specialized to remove the coil packs. But when I changed my plugs I took a wire hanger and bent into a "U" shape and I worked great to remove some of those stubborn coil packs.

It seems like the ones closest to the cowl must get moisture leaked down into the plug and causes the corrosion on the coilpack.

I just used a couple layers of paper towel and a pair of pliers to pull mine out. No "special" tool required. Gave it a gentle twist while pulling them and they came out without issues

Stealership uses a special tool. They tried to "get me" and say I couldn't remove them without it. I did the same thing Matt, pliers and patience.

i agree. i bought the special tool which looks pro but when i tried to remove the 3rd and 5th coil, there is no way the factory tool would do the job. can't go into it. then i realised best tool is the plier and gently constant pull. i've admit, the factory tool is useful but not apply to 3rd and 5th coil which got limited access.

DIY SPARK PLUG is great. if you enjoy to work on your car. it is fun and save lots of $$$$$$

cheers

I just used my hands only. A little twisting and then a strong steady pull and they pooped out (on V8 )
