4.2L V8 Timing belt replacement in pictures

Ok, this is my second time trying to upload the pics of a timing belt replacement. I sure hope it works this time. This may make good reference as to the task at hand. Looks worse that it is.

Not quite DIY instructions but these photos should help someone make a decision as to whether they want to DIY this or give it to a dealer or other mechanic to do the job.

seems to be even easier than the bugs, at least you don't have to take the tire off.

Stripping the front end off a Treg seems "relatively" easy. I wonder how many of the "engine out" jobs on the V10 (and the R5 for that matter) can actually be done by just stripping the front end in stead of taking out the engine...?

For instance, the famous gear driven alternator, a/c and water pump...? Maybe even the turbo's...? I'll definitely give this a try first when the time comes to replace the elastic drive couplings on my R5 (150k km).

Relocated to Aus. Starting fresh.

You do not have to drop the engine to replace the generator on the V10

Still will run $2100 US or so.
