Didn't know you were a mtb'er Singh. We need to bring our bikes next trip

If you go fast downhill, you need lots of skill, plenty of guts and a little luck some time. My nephew Jack Moir.... rides for Intense.

indeed Paul, i've had my bike in the back on some trips

now thats extreme and well beyond my skill and age. My downhills are slow careful but to some degree technical, bit like going down the mountain in a Touareg.

How are the tyres holding up btw, more offroad kms?

Singh... when new the tyre tread depth was around 9-9.5mm. 20,000kms on they have worn to 7.5mm (1.5-2mm). So far so good - they are excellent on road and in the wet, very very good. Much more sure-footed and more precise than the Pirellis although with a little road noise (not bad, but the Pirellis were near to silent). Offroad we did a week on Fraser Island both on the beach although more along the inland tracks, also the Daintree Track, around Cooktown and down to the headwaters of the Clarence River and another weekend inland from Tenterfield.... probably another 200-300kms on gravel and a few steep gravelly hills (on those northern NSW trips). No punctures, no terrain to date which have caused (or exposed) any shortcomings. To date a very good tyre on and off road. Ask me again after June, 10,000kms to the Kimberleys and back. Cheers Paul.

Thanks Paul. If you get across Gibb river rd without any punctures then that would be a good test! I almost made it and got two flats in the last 50kms! Look ahead to some drone shots of you crossing the pentecost

From tyres to MTB to tyres

Put Michelin Latitude Plus on 17" Wheels today. Ride is softer but some noise compared to Pirelli All Season (as others have noted here). Now to turn them black soon

No rubbing so far - thanks for all your inputs!

I am just about to change (read have to as the rears are no longer legal) my oem set of conti' 255/55/r18 after only getting 45ks out of them.
I am not an agressive driver and live in the country so not a lot of cornering.
Probably will not go off road much unlike Paul.
Is there much benefit from going to 265/65/r18s apart from the speedo reading?

Local dealer is telling me to pick Toyo, comments please.

2016, 150 V6 TDI.

I am getting Michelin Primacy SUV fitted at Jax on Monday. Most of my miles will be on black top.
With a wheel alignment ($69) I get rotation and balance every 10k for free.

If the wife ever leaves me then I will be looking for a more aggressive off road tyre.
