I had a similar situation on mine. With all the bolts out did you try putting it in drive and letting the vehicle try to move a tiny bit? That’s how I got mine to drop.
I did that and it’s loose. Just seems about 5mm too long. I finally got it though by bolting the front back up and used a prybar at the rear and pried it forward using the subframe for leverage. It’s likely going to be a bear to install though.

Had to give up for the night. Tried for over an hour to remove the clip holding the cv on but couldn’t get it. Any tips would be appreciated
Just do a Jimmi Fix. It looks kludgy but actually is more robust than OEM.
And you can leave the shaft on to do it.

I have the shaft out. It’s the clip that holds the cv to the front half that I can’t get. I can spread it open but I can’t hold it open and tap the cv off the shaft at the same time. Guess I should have spent $100 more and got a whole shaft. I think I’ve finally been defeated by a vehicle. Now I need to try and find someone to get it apart for me. It’ll probably cost more than the $100 extra I should have spent on a shaft.

Hi All, R5 2006 TDI with 300k on the old girl.
I have had my second centre bearing done now. what a joy, but I still have a large vibration after hitting 65 km/hr, 80 kms its quite bad. Shaft had been separated and a new bearing put in and has been put back together and balanced.
Before I go and blame it on the shaft fix and then buy a new All-in-One shaft for $1200 (yep, Solitaire want $1800 mind you) . Is there anything else I need to consider that may be making the vibrations in the drivetrain. Its speed related. Tyres are OK and balanced.

I was quoted $860 for a new shaft (V6TDI) from Hardy Spicer today. I need to replace my bearing as well. I figure after 280k it's probably better to replace the whole shaft rather than just the bearing.
I just had the bearing and the rubber support replaced at 187K by Hardy Spicer. Cost was $400.00.
Unless there is a reason to replace the shaft, I would just do the bearing and support.

I now have done 250K

If we're talking Generation 1 cars [T1 and T2] "The Jimi Fix" [spelt exactly as typed] costs $0.

It works and it lasts; and if your centre bearing hasn't gone yet, it's easy to pop the bits you need into a plastic bag and keep in the car for a shady-tree repair if you're outback and disaster strikes!

Are the 2011 Touareg TDI prop shafts the same as the 2013 Touareg TDI's? They list a bearing for the 2013 but not the 2011.
It should be. I could be wrong but the hybrid MIGHT use a different part but the TDI's should all use the same shaft.

Do 7P Touaregs have the same centre bearing issue as 7L Touaregs? I think my 7P centre bearing is failing. Does the Jimi fix apply to 7P?
So far, my T1 and T3 have both claimed that bearing, so to answer your question, I would say it's still an item of concern. The T3 was a bit easier to work on and I struggled to align the T1 shaft. I don't think it was ever perfect. It's not a crazy expensive fix so if it's showing signs, it's a couple of hours to knock out. I had luck chilling the shaft with a can of keyboard duster and heating the inner race a little bit with a propane torch and that was enough to make installation quick and very easy.
