Thank you. Good info!

Thanks for coming back with the figures.Looks like about 13 MPG in USA speak. That is not to bad considering the size of the RV you were towing.
What are the specs for your rig? Again thanks!

13.2 MPG. That is about 2 MPG better than my F-250 with what looks to be an even heavier trailer.

5500 LBS trailer, 500lbs hitch weight.
Is the spec. I did actually weigh it on the trip. I check and get back.

What size drop/raise ball mount are you using with the U-haul trailer. Curious as I need to buy one and still can't find the coupler height from U-haul.

I read this thread a while back & was struck by the mention that a member was using his Treg to tow his 1990 SHO to the race track. I had both '90 & '99 SHOs & as I was cleaning out some old files the other found the 1990 & 1999 Taurus brochures that have a couple of pages about those year SHOs. If you're the racer & see this, e-mail [PM] me your address & I will send them to you. Or perhaps at some pt I'll have the time to reread the thread & find you.

I recently bought a 2012 KZ Spree 321 BHS. Weighs roughly 6900lbs (unloaded), 790 tongue weight and is 34' 7" long. I bought the weight distribution hitch to tow (my T-Reg does not have air suspension) as all dealers I spoke with indicated that it drops the weight 10% (i.e. distributes the weight so it doesn't weigh as much on the tongue). With that said, I wasn't driving fast (kept it at 100 km/h or roughly 60 miles/hr ) for my entire trip home from the dealership (7 hours).

I had never towed such a large trailer (as I only had a 8' tent trailer before) but the T-Reg towed it with minor issues (i.e. Blown sideways a bit with wind AND experience the Bernoulli effect when buses and trucks passed me (i.e. sucked toward larger vehicles when they passed). I learned to adjust.

The mileage did drop. When I made my first stop for diesel, I was averaging 18.2 l/100 km (~4.8 gallons per 60 miles). My second stop for diesel I was averaging 17 l/100 km (~4.5 gallons per 60 miles). Seemed like after some driving, my T-Reg found its groove. Needless to say, I am happy with the mileage, all things considered.

As for the weights posted on the hitch, I figure that they are the true maximum minus 10 to 20 percent. I suspect that no manufacturer would make a hitch that could only tow the maximum because just 1 lb more than the maximum should cause it to fail. Thus, they post a reduced maximum so that idiots like me who may end up going over the posted maximum, won't truly be surpassing the maximum and won't be experiencing a failure. Regardless, I drive very prudently when towing so I don't expect any issues with the trailer (Also, I get better fuel mileage this way).

Anyway, sorry that I don't have a pic with the trailer attached. It is truly impressive to see, though.

Here's another pic of what I've been towing lately. This is my first car, a 1988 Suzuki Samurai. Pulled it off my dad's farm and I've been restoring it lately. It's light for sure and I don't even notice when I'm pulling it.

rPod rp-172T. 18.5 ft, 2300# dry, 3700# loaded, 270# tongue weight. The treg laughs when I hook it up. Literally seems eager to shake it like a dog with a rat. Someone asked me at a campsite if I have any trouble towing this trailer with "that little car."
