I'm very interested. But unfortunately, I drive the V8 gasser, and I live in the states. Bit of a hike. But I am interested nonetheless.

Hi Guys,

just a quick update here, for I am still unable to write PM's
It doen't matter where you live on earth, for FEDEX or DHL can deliver a unit like that anywhere

Currently we found a proper way to connect the snorkel to the existing air filter housing, so there is no need for a modified aluminum air filter housing. No, we are not going through the existing air intake (which is beneath the front headlight).

The aliminum pipes for the snorkel will leave for the UK today, because in the UK there is a company that can bend 90mm pipe without causing the little "freckles" on the inside of the bend. The pipes should be back again by the end of next week and then we can finish the pilot unit, so the unit should be finished by the end of the month, then you will also receive detailed pictures, specs as well as a fixed price.

Please note that we will develop a unit for the V8 - W12 by the end of the year.

Looking forward to hearing from more of you guys!

Kind regards,
Christo

Wonderful. Also, where did you get your skid plates and sliders? I'm looking for protection for my touareg. The plastic one sucks.

Looks to be a great project Christo, best of luck!
Looking forward to finally seing a solution to to the Touareg nemesis, here in AU you do not have a "proper" 4wd unless it has a snorkel fitted.

The skid plates are from VW Individual (Currently R-GmbH). Here we used to have the VW Expedition edition and the skid plates are from this vehicle. You lose about 4-5cm (nearly 1,5 - 2") of ground clearance, but you can surely handle some tough-stuff. Together with the Seikel lift kit it is OK.
The rocksliders are directly from Porsche. They used to use it for the Porsche Transsyberia edition. They are a 100% fit on the 7L Touareg and are also very solid.

You also get a couple of companies here that specialized in undercarriage protection for the Touareg 7L. The only available rocksliders at the moment are the rocksliders from Porsche. They have a price tag of around 850 per set.

Thanks Tony!
I certainly agree with you. On each 4wd rig in South Africa we also used to have a snorkel It just gives you a lot more freedom.
4wd = Big tyres + Suspension lift + Snorkel
