Swaybar disconnects

So, I recently found out that the touareg had an option for swaybar disconnects. Well, VW called them stability bars.

I know it wasn't an option on the US spec touareg.

That being said, has anyone tried making their own disconnects? I had a set on my cherokee, and they were awesome!

They make universal disconnect kits.

I measured, the front swaybar is about 9-10 inches long, and I've found kits that are the same length.

I'd like to purchase a kit, try it out, and see what kind of difference it makes.

The rear is a different story. There doesn't seem to be a link that would fit there properly, as it's curved under the struts.

For that solution, I was just going to remove the rear sway bar completely. I'm sure SOMEONE out there has done this. Hell, my Nissan frontier didn't even come with a rear one.

Ideas? Thoughts? Concerns?

The kits are about $130.

Oooooooo. I want. I wonder how complicated it would be to wire it in. I'm sure they didn't run the wires for the US spec.

That's a lot of work lol. Some of those parts aren't even made anymore lol. I am going to look underneath and see if i can see any extra hydraulic lines that are run.

That would be one heck of a crazy OEM mod to add to a North America Touareg! Talk about having the only one.

But who was the loony who decided this...

The filler hole and plug for filling and checking the oil level is located behind the left-side tail-light.

Before the oil level can be checked, the left-side tail-lamp must be removed.

Marshatherton, don't waste your time or money. None of the stuff will be there at all on your Treg. I don't even think that option ran all that long when it was having parts being made for it let alone sourcing everything you need to do it. It was never an option here in NA. It would not offer as much articulation as it did on your Jeep since you are still limited by the angle of the half shafts.

True. That's why I was going with the universal disconnects, and removal of the rear sway bar

A Touareg has virtually no articulation in the first place. Especially with air suspension. AMHIK. :- /

Take the equivalent money and put it towards good tires. :- )
