Largest tire to fit on a factory 18"

I had recently bought a 05 V8 I was wondering if anyone came upon any rubbing issues when changing to a different tire size (ex. 255/55r18 to a 2656018 or larger) the 255/55R18 offers few actual "light truck" tires to choose from. I know other manufacturers had issues when changing the tire size even marginally.

Thanks

Thanks, I ordered a set of 265/60R18 Cooper AT/3's from my work. We've had nothing but glowing reviews on them from people running them on everything from Tahoes to Jeeps *cringes while typing "Jeep" on a Touareg forum*

I know you are asking about 18's, but I'm running 265/65/17's - which is a 30.6" overall diameter tire and have no issues with rubbing. It should be noted that clearances on the TDI's are tighter due to the intercooler that is stuffed in the front of the wheel well. Don't be as concerned about tire size (265/60, 265/65 etc) as overall diameter of the tire. At a certain point the tire becomes too "tall" and starts to rub. There are many discussions about this floating around in different threads.

Current:
2014 TDI Exec - White w/ Cornsilk

Gone to a great new home:
2008 V6 Cranberry Red - Lux Plus (Leather, Keyless) Tech + Dynaudio, Air, Tow, 4 Zone Climate

stt pro

without intercoolers these 275/65r18 cooper discoverer stt pro should fit fine. They aren't overly wide and I think the 32.2 inch diameter is either right on or the tire is slightly under that. I had to move my intercoolers forward a little bc its a tdi.

THey are reall quiet on the highway and can be blown up to 80 psi, though 50 is all you would really want I think. They corner pretty well for a full on mud tire.
