The detailed directions are on TregCentrals website under the covered dash bin. They give you the directions so you can swap out the open bin for the covered one. You will need the keys to get your radio out first.

When I put mine in I ran a switched line into the bin. I'm thinking a radar unit or GPS might need power later. If I don't use it I'm only out the dimes worth of wire.

Mike,

I saw this post and am wondering if you could help me out here. I have a Valentine One sitting on top of windsheild and I just bought a Sirius portable receiver. I would like to mount the satelite receiver in the dash storage bin so I want to remove the storage bin to:
1. Make a nice little mount to attach it to the bin
2. Run power to it from below it.
3. Go ahead and drop my valentine and run power to it too. (unless you know how to find power from the overhead panel and how you remove those too.
I have owned BMWs for years and did all my own work but finding any fasteners on this thing is not working for me right now!
So how do you remove this storage bin and is there any switched power underneath it or do I try to feed power from my cigarette lighters up there?
I have searched the boards for "how to remove the storage bin" and so far haven't found anyone who has posted how to do this.
Thanks!
Mike

My radio shop did the work for me. I had the radio keys, but he removed the bin without touching the radio. He went to the fuse box for the switched power. Find a good stereo shop and let them help you.

Thanks Mike!

After Christmas I will swallow my (mechanic) pride and visit a radio shop.
