To relate a story about the other dealer in town - I went by to check out the color "Cranberry" on a 2008 Touareg - in preparation for a V6 TDI order later this year or next. The young salesperson who intercepted me tried his best to catch a sale right then - even though I explained I had more than year left on a lease and was interested only in V6 TDI's. The ugly part - he was trying to tell me the dealer had four Touareg V6 TDI's arriving in September when I knew clearly US-destined manufacture was not happening until mid-November. So 'round and 'round and then I called his bluff.

Anyway, the order form that was circulated (and findable here on CT) had a US Starting Build Date of mid-November - and my dealer (not above) was honest enough to tell me it takes about 3 1/2 to 4 months to arrive after build.

So how did the salesman react when you called his bluff?

Oh he was blathering about how he could show me the paperwork.. So I asked him to show it to me - he went to his floor manager who said the paperwork was not conveniently available. I got the sense that the floor manager knew better and was just playing along with the BS.

With that, I left.

I cant totally disqualify them - when I do get around to ordering I'll be looking for the best deal. And that will include dealers in other states.

I love watching the idiots backpedal and try to get out of the lies by telling more lies. "PRICELESS"!!

I wish you the best luck in finding a great deal.

Don't you just love when the dealer peddle their lies.

Before purchasing my Treg 2 weeks ago, I did about 3/4 weeks of research called a bunch of dealers from PA to CT as well as in LI where I live. I had specific things I wanted IE: Galap Grey or Black V8 with tech pack and air suspension. Didn't want the lux pack as i dont sit in the back etc. All the dealers I called gave me prices etc. Most of them said that there were only 8 vehicles meeting the spec I wanted, but they all had the addition of the lux package (couldn't avoid it). So I was finally ready to make the purchase and went down to the Lynbrook dealer whom gave me a good price with 0% interest. they didn't have the car there and had to order from a different dealer (which they did). i was able to test drive one though cause they had a white gold demo on the lot.

In any case the next day I went to the Hicksville dealer to see if I can get a better deal at the last minute. Let me tell you the Hicksville VW dealer is the worst I've ever been to. I don't recommend anyone going there. As soon as I got there, they started peddling lies. I told them exactly what I wanted and they proceeded to tell me that there were no such vehicles matching the specs I wanted in the the Northeast Region. LIE number 1, as I already knew there were atleast 6. Then I said well Lynbrook happens to have a white gold on display, the manager was like let me check. he comes back and says they were lying to you, I checked the computer and they don't have any. that was LIE number 2 as I sat in it the night prior. He then tried to sell me the V8 they had on the lot with no navigation, no air suspension, and no rear-diff. He tells me that they can add the navigation for me which is better then the one that comes with the Treg, and he tells me they can add the rear-diff (LIE 3) as i've found out you cant add rear-diff afterwards. I said absolutely not. He then takes me in to negotiate price and says I'm in luck that they found 2 vehicles (mysteriously pop-up). So i said ok... I gave them the price the other dealership quoted me and they basically was like absolutely not we cant give it for that much. they were very rude about it too. At the end I walked out and went back and put a deposit for the Black Treg at Lynbrook. i found their service and staff excellent and attentive no BS. Car came in had some minor scratches etc on rear passenger door which they fixed right away. they will drive me to and from the train station when I have to leave the car for service slash repair or a rental if i'm not working that week.

I got 7,000 off sticker plus 0%. I would and will tell everyone I know not to do business with Hicksville dealer. Funny thing is I got an email from Hicksville saying something along the line of Here at Platinum VW we dont let price stand in our way we strive to give the best price possible. I'm confident if you come back in we can meet your needs. Well I blasted an email back to them on that one.

Anyways sorry for rambling but just wanted to share.
