Should I buy a 2006 or 2007 Touareg?

I have a 2004 Touareg with 43,000 miles. It's been nothing but problems. Dead battery problems for a year, failure to shift gears when in drive and last month a snapped driveshaft! I've never even taken it off road. The dealer is offering about $20,000 in trade and will sell me a new 2007 Touareg at dealer invoice plus an additional discount. I am VERY hesitant to buy another one. How have the 2005 and 2006 models been?

There are a few extra 05s and 06s left over with heavy discounts. 6000 on 05 v8s and 4000 on 06 v8s. 3000 on 06 v6s.

Take into consideration the larger engine in the 07's.

To answer the original question, my 05 V6 has been great. A couple of minor tweaks were needed in the first few months of ownership, but she's 2 years old now with 23K miles and has been trouble free.

Drive on,
PV

Just bought a 2007 V6 a month ago & already have 2000 miles on it. So far, I love it!

Saw an 05 V8 recently reduced $8,000. I have had mine for almost two year and aside a couple tweaks in the begining - it has been smoooth sailing.

The only thought I would have on the 07 is the larger V8 vcoming.

...and a larger V6, too. That little extra bit of oomph made a noticeable difference when I test drove an 06 and an 07.

I've had my '06 V8 for about 3300 miles now, and it has been great. You should be able to get at least 10k off sticker for an '06. I got 9k off in June.

I don't know if the new V8 is worth the $4000-$5000 your likely to pay over the '06. I guess that would be your call.

We were looking at the same dilema as to whether to wait for 2007

We decided that the $11,000 discount on the 2006 V8 far outweighed the upgrades to the 2007 V8, even with the new engine.

However, part of our decision was also that we couldn't wait a month or so for 2007 V8's to arrive

Wife was also concerned that it was a NEW engine and that we would have "teething" issues. This is because we are lemoning a 2006 Range Rover which ALSO had a new engine for 2006 (switched from BMW to JAG engine) and it was this new engine that is the reason that it is a lemon (39 days in shop in 8mths)
