...resale is kinda low on T-regs now. hopefully you didnt have to add tons of neg equity on top of the new purchase. I commend you for sticking it out with another T-reg, Most folks would have left the brand for something else.

My understanding is that the current 2007s have the same engine as the 2006. The bigger engine will not be added until late 2007.[/quote]

The 3.6V6 is now on the market.

Go look at an ML 350

I bought one. VW bought back my 2005 V8 and I drove right down to Mercedes and got its replacement. VW should stick to building Jettas and Passats and stop trying get into the premium car market. Look at the Phaeton!

Good luck with that!! Mercedes has fallen to the bottom of the pack in terms of quality / reliability and the stories on the MB lists make the Treg sound like a Toyota. Let us know what you get after MB does their lemon buy-back.

Hehehe

I doubt that will happen. Too bad VW didn't put more thought into the design and reliability of the Touareg. I really wanted to like the vehicle, after all I drove it for a year and a half. It is easy for you to take potshots at the MB because as a Touareg owner, you have to defend the vehicle you are driving. I can understand that. The MB is a complete redesign and doesn't have 1/10th the issues of the Touareg. Come on, here are some of the big issues with the Touareg:
1. Pulling to the right
2. Stepper motor failure
3. Battery totally running down. (This happened to me...it sucked).

These aren't things I would expect from a $40-50K vehicle. Nice try VW but I think I will stick with the other German car manufacturers that actually know what they are doing. (BMW, Porsche, and Mercedes).

Clarification - the 2007 V6 engine is already bigger and better than 2006. The V8 will not see an improvement (as if it needs one) until late 2007.

Take the advice you like the most but after giving VW two opportunities to keep my business (an 05 and 04 Touareg, both with several problems) they have lost me forever. Except for the people who will defend their decision and tell you the vehicle is the best thing since sliced bread and canned beer....whether or not they have had an unacceptable number of problems,,,,,the fact is this is an unreliable vehicle as proven over and over again.

Now if you have no problem with this (that is if you have another car to use or a chauffeur) it may be worth it to you to have a sexy road machine as long as it runs 70-80% of the time with no problem. But if you NEED your vehicle to get you to work and other places reliably say 98% of the time then would you really consider buying another? If you do, it is addiction and that is OK too. But remember your decision when it is in the shop and you are driving a stripped Chevy as a loaner and paying the jumbo monthly payment.

I bought a "07" V6 a few weeks ago and it is great. I had also considered a "06" V8 because of the discounts but I feel it is always better to go with the new plus the gas mileage on the V6 is better. I paid invoice plus VW is offering $3,000 off right now if you own a VW (loyalty $$). I used the $3,000 for my down payment.

What would you all do?....

Two options for us:

Both 2007 Treg Reflex Silver / Anthracite (our favorite)

1. V6 w/ PKG 1 + Xenon + Trailer Hitch

2. (350hp/updated) V8 w/ PKG 2 + Cargo Mat Kit

I ask because to us PKG 2 is overkill... more things to go wrong. I want the V8 though, but the dealer only has PKG 1 V8s in color choices less than desirable for us.

I'm afraid I'll regret the V6 purchase, but also afraid I could regret PKG 2.... all i need is a seatbelt not adjusting properly or a car starting or stopping itself.
