Purchasing a "preloved" Treg?
I'm almost certain I'll be purchasing a Touareg thanks to all of your suggestions and comments.......
Can anyone provide some background on used Touareg's? I've been told to purchase a new '08 and avoid any used Treg? Any facts that would help me determine used vs new? I don't mind considering an '07 with low miles...........should I consider this? Thanks again in advance Michael |

Many will tell you to stay away from early VIN 2004 models(VIN ending in <45000). Those were the first production tregs that had the most problems/bugs.
Dont let previous problems keep you from purchasing a pre-owned treg. Many of the bugs were resolved by mid-2005, and there are many TSBs that fix known problems. With any used treg, check with the dealer for service history, get an extended warranty, and enjoy your new ride. I bought a 2004 V8 and have enjoyed it with few problems. |

My wife and I bought a 2007 treg last week, and we are very impressed with the vehicle. We have a v6 and for driving in the city this is fine.

We just purchased an 04 v8 fully loaded with 26,000 miles. I am enjoying every minute driving this beast. Just make sure you have access to the service history of the vehicle and know how the prior owner used the egg. Most of the issues are electrical from what I have read/heard (and that's not limited to any particular vin)and covered by the warranty.

I bought a "pre-loved" '05 V8 back in Feb and I have been very satisfied. The only problem has been a bad battery, and it was replaced at no cost to me under warranty.
For me it was affordability. I felt like this treg was the most truck for my budget.

Pre-loved is fine. Get one that's VW facory certified and you'll have an extended bumper-bumper warranty. There's a ton of complicated electronics in a Touareg that you don't want to have to fix yourself.
I have a 2004 V8 that has always been near perfect. No problems. VW is great when something happens.
