Newbie, few questions

Hey guys

I currently have a 2000 Range Rover 4.6 HSE Rutland Edition. It is a Range Rover, and I love it more than I love myself, but I believe we will be parting ways soon.

I am pretty obsessed with cars, but when it comes to the minor (but important details now, I am lost)

I am considering a VW Touareg, obviously. To begin with, I will be purchasing a nice Pre-loved vehicle, as a college kids budget doesn't allow for a new one. Trying hard to stay under $25k before tax, which is doable with either engine choice.

I really would like the Nav system, but I understand it isn't a great system. Still I think it will be used enough to warrant crossing off the lesser equipped.

What are the key differences between the V6 and V8? Coming from the Rover, anything has guts to it, but I would like a little more without sacrificing gas mileage. I assume the V8 is more thirsty, but if it is significantly better than a V6, then no questions V8 it is.

I saw that early 2004 vehicles were not great. How are WVGCM67LX4D005592 (2004) vs. WVGMM77L65D074999 (2005). Both are V8 vehicles.

With all that said, I am comparing this to a. putting $4-5k in the Rover (no warranty), a BMW X5 and the Touareg. No Mercedes ML (My dad lemoned his 2005 ML500). I think the VW is the one of the better values for a used SUV, and especially with gas, I can even get a certified vehicle as as low as $17k (V in Illinois.

Thanks for your input

Alex

Go for the 2005 V8, the gas mileage between the V6 and the V8 is like 1-2 mpg and the V8 is MUCH more fun and has alot of power. The other reason I would go for the 2005 is that with the VIN you are showing for it shows its a later 2005, which means you get the newer DVD navigation unit instead of the 2004 CD navigation which is far worse than the DVD.

Go for it, you will love you treg just as much or more than the rover trust me.

P.S. The 2004 you are showing is an early 2004
